PGA Tour takes on the Snake Pit at Copperhead this Weekend (3/7/18)

This week the boys head down to Palm Harbor, FL and play Innisbrook Golf Resort with one of the strongest fields it has ever had. The tournament is headlined by Tiger Woods (mainly), Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Patrick Reed, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Matt Kuchar, and Bill Haas who returns for the first time since his tragic accident a few weeks ago. Last year the ole Canadian, Adam Hadwin, claimed his first win of his career at Innisbrook with a finishing score of -14 under. I have a feeling he will not repeat this year due to the star studded field that will be playing. A lot of people decided to skip the tournament last year because of the WGC-Mexico Championship taking place in the middle of the ‘Florida Swing,’ but this year, they said screw it, and want to tee it up with against Tiger to get some more TV exposure!

The Innisbrook Golf Resort is a par 71, 7209 yard course with 4 par-5’s and 4 par-3’s. Based on the weather report for Palm Harbor, Florida, the boys are going to be in for a TOUGH weekend. High winds (up to 20 mphs) are expected Thursday and Friday to qualify for the weekend, while the weekend looks like it will have some thunderstorms. With that being said, I am excited about this. I love watching the best golfers in the world compete in tough weather because it makes me feel normal. These guys are SO DAMN GOOD and when they play in these elements, the look like regular humans and make mistakes we all make every day on the golf course, and it is great.

By the way.. Tiger’s new commercial, FIRE:

Now, we have some of the big names in the tournament making their first appearances ever at this event. Those two gentlemen are Tiger Woods and Rory Mcilroy (the biggest names in the field, obv.). Do I think that they will struggle this weekend? Unfortunately, I have to say yes. Tiger has his eye on Augusta right now and that is all that matters to him, and Rory can’t make a damn putt to save his life. He needs a lesson from Chubbs at the Putt-Putt Panorama to stand a chance this week. I do think that Tiger will make the cut based off of his performance two weeks ago at the Honda Classic. He looks healthy, can play multiple weeks in a row, and wants to win that green jacket to shut up all these young punks and prove that he still has it.

The moment you have all been waiting for… My prediction for the week! I believe it won’t be easy out there, hitting fairways is a must this weekend because the Copperhead course is going to show its teeth.  I will say that the winner will finish at -7 and I have a bit of a sleeper pick this week. I am going to say that Charley Hoffman will get it done. He hasn’t won for a while, he is playing well, and he is Mr. Consistency as of late. With lettuce like that, how can you not cheer for this guy?!

The main show this weekend is still going to be Tiger Woods, of course. He is on the prowl to prove he is back. With Phil winning last week, that may have lit a fire, and wants to prove that he is still THE guy on tour again. If he is sucking ass, then let’s go Jordan Spieth!
